Sibylle Szaggars; An Artist Who Hails From Germany

A famous artist who is better known for her marriage to the famous Oscar-winning actor Robert Redford, who appeared in The Sting and Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid, Sibylle Szaggars surely prefers to live a mysterious life.

But, due to her work as a famous painter, highly influenced by the environment and old culture which has been exhibited all over the world including Japan, Peru and certain parts of Europe, a lot on Szaggars's professional life, however, is known to the public.

Originally from Germany, Sibylle, today, resides in Utah and Los Angeles in the United States with her husband. But, how did fate united Sibylle and her twenty years senior partner, two people from the complete opposite world?

Szaggars and Redford Began Dating In 1996

The first time, these two met dates back to more than two decades ago at an art exhibition (Sundance Film Festival) where their love story kicked off from the exact moment in 1996. The actor and the painter then immediately dated.

And, as the couple couldn't keep up with their long-distance relationship, the painter flew to Utah from Germany to live with her then-boyfriend at Robert's eco-friendly million dollars mansion built in 5500 acres.

Both Redford and Szaggars maintained their affair to be kept private apart from appearing in public events together. And, in May 2008, after twelve years of dating, the California-born actor revealed the happy news of the couples' engagement to the German magazine, Bunte. Daily Mail claims, the pair Redford proposed Sibylle in March.

The next year on 11th July 2009, the pair tied the knot in an inmate wedding ceremony in front of only 30 guests. The nuptial ceremony, moreover, took place in Hotel Louis C. Jacob in Hamburg where the founder of The Way Of The Rain, Inc. was born and bred.

Meanwhile, this is not the first marriage of Sybille neither of her husband.

Who Was Szaggars Married To?

Before the German artist met and settled down with Redford, she was already married and divorced twice. Her first marriage count with husband, Carl-Heinz Szaggars, a restaurateur, with whom she walked down the aisle in 1975.

But, not less than five years of togetherness as a husband and wife, the two parted their ways in 1980. Sibylle then met Friedrich Kurz with whom she remained married for almost a decade, as per numerous sources.

Redford, on the other hand, was also married to his first wife, Lola Van Wagenen, the mother of his four children including James Redford, Shauna Schlosser, Amy Redford August and Scott Redford who died at two months due to Infant Death Syndrome.

Szaggars and Redford, today, as of 2019, has been together for over twenty-three years.
