Jerry Stiller, Seinfield Star and father of actor Ben Stiller is Dead
The world lost one more beloved celebrity and talent this May in the form of actor and comedian Jerry Stiller.
The sad news of Jerry Stiller was broken by his son Ben Stiller through twitter on May 11, 2020. The "Zoolander" actor tweeted:
I'm sad to say that my father, Jerry Stiller, passed away from natural causes. He was a great dad and grandfather, and the most dedicated husband to Anne for about 62 years. He will be greatly missed. Love you Dad.
Jerry was 92 years old at the time of his death and is survived by his son Ben, daughter Amy Stiller and two grandkids, Ella Olivia Stiller and Quinlin Dempsey Stiller. These are the kids born to his on Ben and his ex-wife Christine Taylor. Jerry's wife Anne Meara passed away in May 2015 at the age of 85.
Jerry and his wife were married for more than sixty years. The pair first met in 1953 at a New York casting call and bonded over a cup of coffee. Soon these two struggling actors began dating, and a year later tied the knot.
The marriage between Stiller and Meara was quite noteworthy because the groom was Jewish, and the bride was Roman Catholic. At that time, it was rare for men and women of different religions to date, let alone marry.
Stiller, a comedian after marriage, encouraged his wife to join comedy and suggested that they would make an excellent comic team. Thankfully, Meara agreed and formed the now infamous performing duo, Stiller and Meara.
The duo, who made fun of one another during the act, was loved by the fans. In the beginning, they perform at night clubs, and later they were regularly invited to "The Ed Sullivan Show" for the performance.
After a decade of working together, Stiller and Meara separated professionally so that they could save their marriage. The duo, after breaking up, started their solo career path with Jerry focusing more on acting. He worked in several television and films in minor roles; however, he was not able to gain any significant popularity.
Jerry's career got a new boost as the nineties rolled in, and he landed the role of hypertensive Frank Costanza on the popular sitcom "Seinfeld." The fans loved him despite not being a regular on the show. Beyond Seinfeld, he is known for his work in "The King of Queens", "Zoolander," and "Hairspray."
Condolences for this beloved comedian is coming from fans and stars alike. Till now, Lin-Manuel Miranda, Ben Azaria, and Ricky Gervais has publicly shared a heartfelt message for the late actor.
