Kevin Durant's adopted brother Clifford Dixon died on Thursday as he was fatally shot multiple times while celebrating his 32nd birthday in Atlanta.

Clifford Dixon who is considered to be Kevin Durant, the Warriors forward's "adopted brother" died earlier on Thursday. Chamblee police confirmed in a statement, the 32-year-old died due to a fatal shooting outside a metro Atlanta bar.

Following the police report, Clifford Dixon, the ex-boyfriend of 'Love & Hip Hop' star Erica Mena made an arrival at the SL Lounge on Budford Highway for his 32nd birthday celebration just after 1 a.m. Dixon was making his way to the bar from his car while he got shot multiple times.

Durant's mother expressed heartfelt condolences and called his untimely death "an incredible loss" via Twitter post:

Subsequently, responders who heard the gunshots arrived on the scene and rushed Dixon to Grady Memorial Hospital where he was declared dead. The suspect escaped the crime scene on foot but the police were unable to track down the culprit.

According to the reports by Oklahoman, Dixon became a part of Durant's family when his mother, Wanda Pratt took him in when he was 16 years of age.

Durant has mentioned Dixon on multiple occasions referring him as one of his closest friends, a recent one including his emotional speech after being named the NBA's Most Valuable Player during the 2013-2014 season.

Durant said during his speech,

"You keep me every day. There are days I come home upset after a game or a practice and you just brighten my day up,"

He added,

"I thank you guys. I wouldn’t be be here without you guys. This is our trophy, too.”

Dixon was a formerly played basketball for Western Kentucky college and also enjoyed an overseas career.
