Alexis Ohanian, Reddit Co-Founder and Serena Williams' Husband Resigned From Reddit Board and Asked His Seat To be Filled With Black Candidate
Alexis Ohanian who co-founded social media site Reddit stepped down from his post on the company's board for his family and his country.
Ohanian, on Friday, thorough a Instagram video, announced that he is resigning from the Reddit Board. He told that he is taking this step so that he can answer his black daughter.
"I co-founded @reddit 15 years ago to help people find community and a sense of belonging. It is long overdue to do the right thing. I’m doing this for me, for my family, and for my country. I’m saying this as a father who needs to be able to answer his black daughter when she asks: “What did you do?”
The 37-year-old shares a daughter Alexis Olympia Ohanian with his wife Tennis superstar Serena Williams. Alexis was born on September 1, 2017, a few months before the couple's wedding on November 16, 2017. Also, the tennis star has revealed that she almost died giving birth to her daughter.

Also, the multi-millionaire revealed that he is planning to use the gains from his company's stocks to serve the black community. His efforts will primarily be focused on curbing racial hate.
For the starter, Ohanian, whose grandparents came from Armenia as refugees, donated $1 million to Know Your Rights Camp. KYRC is a free campaign for youth funded by NFL player and civil rights activist Colin Kaepernick to raise awareness of self-empowerment and interacting with law enforcement.
The tech entrepreneur ended his video by saying that he believes resignation can actually be an act of leadership from people in power right now. Also, he asked people to continue fighting to fix the broken nation.

Alexis' resignation comes at the time when the Reddit and the company CEO, Steve Huffman is receiving a lot of criticism for tolerating, hate, racism, and violence on their platform. Subreddit, such as "the_donald', is deemed as a racist forum by many, but it is still running in the site since 2015.
