Even in Coronavirus Pandemic, Evangeline Lilly Values Freedom Over Her Life

The "Lost" actress Evangeline Lilly created quite a stir this week when she revealed her thoughts on the deadly coronavirus pandemic.

Evangeline Lilly, who shares two children with her partner Norman Kali, recently shared a picture of a cup of tea on her Instagram. She captioned the photo with :

“Just dropped my kids off at gymnastics camp, They all washed their hands before going in. They are playing and laughing. #businessasusual.”

As soon as the post reached the actress's two million followers, Instagram users began to criticize her for being irresponsible. One commentator wrote:

"Social distancing is key in fighting this virus and preventing the elders and those with a weak immune system. Children can carry the virus without any symptoms and transmit it to others. There is no business as usual with something as serious as this where the health of millions is threatened.”

Similarly, another one added,

"Totally ignorant, arrogant and irresponsible of you."

As the backlash started to increase, the "Ant-Man" actress took to Instagram to explain herself.  She revealed that her immune system is already compromised since she is living with her father, who is in stage 4 leukemia. In addition to that, she wrote:

“I have two young kids. Some people value their lives over freedom, some people value freedom over their lives. We all make our choices.”

Not only that, but the 40-year-old also claimed that the government is taking too much control all in the name of respiratory flu. She stated that it feels like she is living under a Martial Law, which is uncomfortable.

After these statements, the Marvel star got a few supporters. While responding to some of the comments which are similar to her views, she wrote that people should be careful as the leaders might use this moment to steal away more freedoms and grab more powers.

In addition to that, the Canadian born, Lilly also raised the question regarding the timing of the virus and implied that there could be a conspiracy behind coronavirus. She stated that something is happening every election year.

Lilly is not the only celebrity who thinks the overall lockdown is a bit overboard. Former Disney star Vanessa Hudgens recently got into hot water after she said that Death is Inevitable in context to COVID-19

Unlike Lilly, who stayed on her ground even after the backlash, The High School Musical star, however, quickly apologize after the critical comments.

Sadly, not only a few celebrities are taking the coronavirus lightly, but some general population, especially the young ones as well. The Spring Breakers are still enjoying their vacation in beaches of Florida despite warnings from health professionals.

Similarly, on the other side of the spectrum, many celebrities are taking the virus seriously and are practicing self-quarantine and appealing others to do so. Miley Cyrus, who is on self-quarantine since March 15, requested her fans to be compassionate during this global crisis.
