It's official that rapper Fred The Godson has passed away fighting to Coronavirus in his bed at a New York-based hospital.

New Yorn rapper, Fred The Godson, a former member of XXL Freshman class of 2011 alongside late rapper Mac Miller, who was exposed to the deadly COVID-19 which had its first major outbreak in China has died battling the virus.

Godson whose birth name is Frederick Thomas shared the news of being tested positive for the virus himself on 6th April by sharing a selfie of in a hospital bed where he is also seen wearing a ventilator over his face.

"I’m in here wit this Corvus 19 shit! Please keep me in y’all prayers!!!! #godisgreat" said Thomas who was only 35 when he took his last breath battling the virus. The Lebron & Selena singer left behind his wife and their two young children.

The news comes a bit surprising to his family and fans amidst the news shared by Thomas's partner LeeAnn Jemmott who only shared a day later of Fred announcing his Corona news, that his health condition was progressing.

Sadly, the mother of Thomas's children shortly had to learn that her husband's lungs failed to work and had his ventilation weaned to 40 from 100. However, there were still some positives signs despite his kidneys being affected that his body showed no sign of infection, and his body had begun cleaning the toxins from the blood.

"Fred is going to make it. God is good!" said Jemmott. But, fate had different plans, unfortunately.

Many high-profile close friends and celebrities have already shared their condolences and tributes for Fred The Godson. Speaking of which, rapper Lloyd Banks tweeted "Rest In Peace Fred the Godson," whilst Kemba shared a rather emotional post.

"RIP Fred The Godson man. Fuck. When I was growing up in Hunts Point, he would pull up like a superstar. Everyone thought he was the best. I was trying to be as good as he was. Him and my older brother friends. I was the little homie. This shit hurts." tweeted Kemba.

CROOK’S CORNER, likewise, said, "Today is a sad one.. My guy Fred.. I thank God I was able to spend a few days in the lab with him in February hangin out..talkin music and life with our brother Joell.. Fred The Godson rest in poetry, power and paradise,"

Thomson released his last record, Payback, only a month ago. But, despite his extraordinary talent and lyrics, Fred never decided to work with big records company.

The father of two, however, has worked with elite rappers including Diddy, Lil' Kim, French Montana, Kendrick Lamar, Jay Pharoah, Busta Rhymes, Meek Mill, Raekwon, and Jeremih.
