Pippen began his professional career in basketball after being drafted in the 1987 NBA draft by the Seattle SuperSonics (an American professional basketball team) who was traded to the Chicago Bulls. Scottie Pippen was born Scottie Maurice Pippen on 25th September 1965 in Hamburg, Arkansas with the birth sign Libra. He is American and belongs to African-American ethnicity. Pippen was raised by his parents, Ethel and Presto Pippen (worked in a paper mill) along with his 11 siblings.
Pippen finished his schooling at Hamburg High School. His parents could not afford to send him to the college, as his father was paralyzed. His father used to work in a paper mill until a stroke paralyzed his right side, prevented him from walking and affected his speech as well. He was not offered any scholarships in the college.
Pippen started his playing career at the University of Central Arkansas in Conway. He was discovered by then-UCA Head coach, Don Dyer as a 6 feet 1-inch walk-on.
