Val Kilmer is an American actor. He is known for his roles in films such as Top Gun (1986), Real Genius (1985), The Doors (1991), Tombstone (1993), Batman Forever (1995), and Kiss Kiss Bang Bang (2005).
Val Kilmer's Early Life And Career
Val Kilmer was born to his mother Gladys (née Ekstadt) and Eugene Kilmer. He attended Berkeley Hall School, a Christian Science school in Los Angeles.
Val portrayed Batman in the 1995 film Batman Forever and played Jim Morrison in the 1991 film "The Doors". He also played memorable roles in the films Heat, Top Gun, Tombstone, and Willow. Kilmer was awarded an honorary doctorate of Fine Arts from William Woods University in 2012.
Kilmer has been open about his health struggles in recent years. He was diagnosed with throat cancer in 2015 and underwent a tracheotomy. The cancer has since gone into remission, but the tracheotomy has made it difficult for him to speak.
Despite his health challenges, Kilmer has continued to work. He appeared in the 2022 film Top Gun: Maverick and has a documentary about his life, Val, set to be released in 2023.
