Lee married his longtime girlfriend Hayoung Choi on 7th March 2015. During an interview in September 2018 with Soompi, he explained the love story of how he met his wife.
When asked if Choi is his first love, he answered in a humorous tone and said, "Um… my first love was basketball."

He continued,
"I was friends with my wife since elementary school. We ended up reuniting after college, dating and getting married. It was after ‘Maze Runner’ came out, so my popularity was rising, but I got married without any concerns. She’d known me since I was young, so I knew she liked me for who I was and not because I was famous."

Maze Runner star Ki Hong Lee was the fourth sexiest man on People's annual "Sexiest Men Alive" list in 2014.
During an interview with People, he said,
"I’m the worst with compliments. People will compliment me on my dimples? but medically, dimples are flawed muscles – they’re not supposed to occur! People think it’s beautiful, but it’s nature’s mistake."
While Chris Hemsworth topped the list in 2014, he managed to edge out Blake Shelton, Bradley Cooper, and Matt Bomer who remained in the fifth, sixth, and seventh positions respectively.
