Based on David's comments on their split, it looks like the relationship died its natural death. Furthermore, there was no inciting incident that can be named as a reason for their parting ways.

The cause and place of death are not revealed at present. However, it is known that he was living in Chicago, Illinois at the time of his death.
It is also a well-known fact that he suffered from a drug abuse problem and even tried suicide in 2003 by consuming 300 Xanax pills combined with crack cocaine.
