Sad News! 'Counting On' Star Grandma Duggar Dies Suddenly at 78.

The Duggar family is in grief! Counting On star 'Grandma' Mary Duggar passed away at 78. The Duggar family shared the news via a Facebook post.

  • Mary was the mother of two, grandmother of 21 and great grandmother of 13 with two more soon to arrive.
  • Mary appeared on TLC's 19 Kids and Counting and Counting On.

The Duggar family first shared the devastating news via social media as they paid tribute to the bereaved soul after she lost her life on Sunday. The family made the announcement via their Facebook group.

The post started,

"We are so sad to share that Grandma Duggar (Mary) passed away Sunday afternoon, June 9th, 2019. Mary Lester Duggar grew up in Farmington, Arkansas and was married almost 50 years to J.L. (Jimmy Lee) Duggar who preceded her in death."

"Mary found great joy in sharing her love for Jesus and her own story of how at age 15 she asked Christ to forgive her for her sins. It was at that time she committed the rest of her life to live for Him, a commitment she kept with devotion."

Mary Duggar's granddaughter, Jill Duggar took to Instagram and posted a black and white image.

She wrote,

"My heart breaks. My grandma died suddenly today! She was an amazing woman of God and such a great example to so many!"

She continued,

"She was a feisty, incredible woman who always took the time to talk about Jesus with everyone she knew! I know she was ready to check outta here and get her new body in heaven before the old one started giving her too much trouble! We miss you so much!!"

Mary appeared on the TLC's 11 Kids & Counting and Counting On with her family members for over 15 years. The show also featured her son Jim-Bob Duggar, his wife, Michelle Ruark with their 19 kids.

She lived with her two kids Jim Bob Duggar and Deanna Jordan. She had 21 grandchildren and 13 greatgrandchildren.

Anna Duggar also expressed her grief and missed her grandma Duggar with a post on Instagram that said,

"Great-Grandma Duggar went to heaven today to be with Jesus! What an awesome woman of faith and such a loving example of God’s love. She was a true soul-winner and loved everyone she met, telling them to turn from sin and trust Jesus for salvation! Miss her soooo much and we cherish each moment we were blessed to spend together! Lots of tears being shed here — grateful for all the prayers!"

Not just her family members but her fans are in deep agony. They took social to pay respect to the departed soul.

One Facebook user wrote,

"So very sorry for your loss! Praying for you and your family. May God wrap his comforting arms around you all during this time. Heaven sure gets sweeter every day!" 

Another said,

"Sending love and prayers. She was a beautiful part of your family."

One of Instagram user commented on Anna's tribute post to her husband Josh Duggar's granny writing,

"Wow! So sorry to hear of her passing! We will miss her so much and I know everyone there will miss her even more. What a Godly loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother."

Though the Duggar family is open about Mary's death, the reason behind her death is yet to be revealed. Still, Jill mentioned that Mary died "suddenly".
