English TV presenter, entertainer, and magician, Stephen Mulhern is popularly known as a TV host for ITV’s show, British Got More Talent, Catchphrase, Big Star’s Little Star and others. He began his career as a magician, influenced by his father when he was a child. He is a versatile man involved in several professions.
Early Life and Education
Stephen Mulhern was born Stephen Daniel Mulhern on 4th April 1977 in the United Kingdom. He was raised by his parents, Maureen and Christopher Mulhern along with his three siblings (two brothers and a young sister). He is from an Irish family and holds British nationality. Mulhern finished his schooling from St Bonaventure’s Catholic School in Forest Gate, Newham.
Magic Career
From the early age, Mulhern was interested in magic and comedy which he learned from his father. He became the youngest member of The Magic Circle which made his appearance on the series, Blue Peter by John Hunter Blair. He was suspended from the Circle after revealing a magic trick on Finger Tips, a kid's TV show.
He then created a magic show, Stephen’s Mega Mad Magic Show where he met Princess Diana. He then won the show, The Big Big Talent Show hosted by Jonathan Ross. After winning the show, he took part in the Royal Variety Performance at the Victoria Palace Theater.
He competed in various famous shows including The Quick Trick Show, Saturday Showdown, Britain’s Got Talent, Magic Numbers and so on. He then began to work with many of the famous singers like Rachel Stevens, Louise Redknapp, Mischa Barton and Katherine Jenkins.
TV Career
Apart from magic, he began to appear as a TV presenter in 1998 from a British free-to-air children’s TV channel, CITV. As of 2003-04, he co-hosted the show, Finger Tips along with Fearne Cotton and Noami Wilkinson.
Mulhern along with Holly Willoughby hosted the Holly & Stephen’s Saturday Showdown from 2004-06. The year 2015 was one of his best years as he presented many of the shows like Reality Bites, Text Santa, Pick Me!, The Saturday Night Story and others.
He is also working for the upcoming show, Big Star’s Bigger Star where some of the celebrities will appear including Andrea McLean, Adam Thomas, Kym Marsh, Frankie Bridge, Emma Willis, Jess Wright and others.
Personal Life
Stephen Mulhern was in a relationship with Emma Barton but later broke up due to some unknown reasons. Barton is an English actress known for her roles in EastEnders.
Before his relationship with Barton, questions about his sexuality was raised, and rumors flew about him being gay. The rumors indeed didn't hold true after his link up to Barton.
