On April 19, 2019, Acosta took to Instagram to let her fans know what actually happened. Surprisingly, she noted;
"A lot of you been asking me for a while now why you haven’t seen me on tv, and films as much as before. Well, two years ago a near-fatal car accident almost took my life."
Moreover, she added, 'it’s actually a miracle I’m alive. I was left with some very serious injuries, some I've recovered from. Others I’m still dealing with, like PTSD, herniated disks, pinched nerves, etc.'

As a matter of fact, she noted that the accident was the biggest blessing of her life. 'It changed me, completely. My entire perspective on life shifted, my priorities suddenly changed. It’s ironic that a near-death experience is what brought me back to life', Anabelle said.
In addition, she seems to find her true meaning and goals in life as she confessed;
'When you're stuck to a hospital bed, alone, with broken ribs, a collapsed lung, a concussion, and a broken heart you are forced to re-evaluate what’s really important in life. We become so busy and caught up in our hectic demanding work schedules, chasing “success”, chasing money, chasing our so-called dreams, that we forget that our health, our happiness, our peace of mind, our well being, and our personal lives should always come first. I discovered that balance is the key to life. That without God, without faith, without love, we are nothing. All that being said, I'm finally going in to have back surgery.'
Be that as it may, Anabelle expects a speedy recovery of the uncertain circumstances, asking her fans prayer and support. And she hopes to be back stronger than ever just like 'Tiger Woods lol,' she gushed.
I will be back doing what I love full force very very soon but this time pain-free and much wiser.
Nonetheless, the Cuban origin actress indeed hates the circumstances noting 'I hate medical procedures lol and second, I wanted to let anyone that’s going thru anything at the moment know that tough times don’t last, but strong people do.
