Zoe Wanamaker was born on 13th May 1949 in New York City under the birth sign Taurus. Wanamaker holds both American & British nationality and belongs to Mix ethnicity. She is the daughter of American actor and director, Sam Wanamaker (Ukrainian descent) and Canadian actress and radio performer, Charlotte Holland. She has two siblings- Jessica Wanamaker and Abby Wanamaker.

In 1952, while working in the UK, Wanamaker father’s found out that he was blacklisted. Therefore, her family moved to the UK and decided to not return to the USA.

Wanamaker attended King Alfred School in Hempstead and a Quaker boarding school named Sidcot School at Somerset. Later, she joined Hornsey College of Art for the Pre-Diploma Course. She also trained at the Central School of Speech and Drama.

Career

Zoe Wanamaker, at the initial phase of her acting career, worked in several theatre plays. Wanamaker also appeared in several hit movies and series which helped her gain a huge fan following.

Wanamaker became the member of the Royal Shakespeare Company from 1976 to 1984. She won an Oliver Award after her mesmerizing performance in Once In a Life Time and a second for Sophocles’ Electra.

In 1985, Wanamaker appeared as Verdi’s wife in the original production of After Aida. She also acted in the National Theater's production, Much Ado About Nothing

In 1997, Wanamaker became the first person to speak about, Shakespeare’s Globe on stage. She then became Honorary President of the Globe. In 2010, she worked in Arthur Miller’s All My Son at the Apollo Theater in London.
